Your sense of time, identity, safety, routines. It can all just go left, leaving you unsure of what to do next. Most of us aren't taught how to deal with that. We're told to "process," "move on," or follow some version of a timeline that doesn't actually make sense. That disconnect is where you might start to feel stuck.
In this process, we slow things down so we can understand what's actually happened, how it's impacting you, and what it would look like to work through it. That includes the parts that sting to think about, the parts that feel confusing, and the parts you've avoided because tackling them just feels too hard.
If any of this sounds familiar, we're here to support you in working through it. A free 15-minute consultation can help you figure out next steps.
I’m ReadySome losses are obvious. Others are harder to name.
Some losses are obvious. Others are harder to identify, like when someone is physically present but psychologically or emotionally gone, or when a role or identity you once had changes or goes away. These ambiguous losses often create the most confusion because there's no clear solution. Some grief is really intense and feels like you can’t get away from it. Some hangs out under the surface and becomes chronic, especially when it's avoided, pushed down, or never fully acknowledged.
The goal of grief and loss therapy is to help you integrate the unwanted emotions so you can function better in your life.
Understand the impact your specific loss is having on you
Address the emotions and patterns that have emerged
Rebuild your routines, identity, and relationships
Hold space for memories as well as moving forward in your life
Grief therapy works when you have a guide. Let's talk about what that might look like for you.
Book a Free ConsultationWe take time to understand the kind of loss you are carrying, how it is affecting your daily life, and what kind of support would actually help. Some people need structure. Some people need space to finally say the thing out loud. Most people need both.
Our work is steady, collaborative, and specific to grief. We use evidence-based approaches when they fit, and we move at a pace that respects both your pain and your capacity to heal.
Learn more about our approachStructured grief therapy is an evidence-based approach that helps you process loss by working through the emotional, cognitive, and behavioral patterns that can keep grief feeling overwhelming or stuck. Rather than trying to move on or suppress what you're feeling, this work focuses on how the loss is actually showing up in your day-to-day and helps you adapt to it in a way that is sustainable over time.
Prolonged Grief Therapy (PGT) is the clinical gold standard for treating grief that has become stuck or overwhelming. It helps you process the reality of the loss, reduce intense emotional pain, and rebuild a sense of meaning and connection to life without forgetting the person or life you lost.
Traumatic loss therapy combines grief counseling with trauma-focused interventions. When a loss is sudden, violent, or otherwise shocking, the trauma response can make it nearly impossible to process the grief itself. This approach addresses both the trauma and the loss so you can heal from both.
Grief work is specialized. It requires training in evidence-based grief models for recent loss, prolonged grief, and trauma-related loss. A grief specialist knows how to differentiate normal grief from grief that is becoming stuck, how to work directly with avoidance, guilt, and unresolved aspects of the loss, and how to guide you through adapting to life after the loss. This leads to more precise, targeted treatment that is often more effective than traditional therapy alone.
All of our grief and loss programs are grounded in established, evidence-based treatments including Prolonged Grief Therapy (PGT) and Trauma-Focused CBT. These approaches represent the clinical gold standard for treating different types of grief and have strong research support.
